Position Summary
The Senior Fund Accountant will report to the CEO and Fractional CFO and manage the recurring accounting, treasury, royalty administration, and financial reporting activities of Open On Sunday’s investment funds and related entities. This hands-on role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing close processes, reconciling royalty income, monitoring cash flows, coordinating acquisition funding, and supporting management, investor, lender, audit, and tax reporting.
Key Responsibilities
Fund Accounting and Financial Reporting
• Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes for the funds and related entities
• Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, financial statements, and supporting schedules
• Maintain investment, escrow, contingent payment, management fee, distribution, and intercompany schedules
• Analyze actual performance against forecasts, underwriting expectations, and prior periods
Royalty Accounting and Operations
• Manage the receipt, processing, classification, and reconciliation of royalty statements and payments
• Reconcile royalty statements to bank receipts and general ledger activity
• Investigate missing payments, reporting gaps, unusual variances, duplicate payments, and ownership discrepancies
Treasury and Cash Management
• Monitor cash balances and bank activity across funds and related entities
• Prepare short-term cash forecasts and identify upcoming liquidity requirements
• Prepare domestic and international wires and supporting documentation for approval
Deal Closing and Investment Administration
• Establish new investments within the accounting and reporting systems
• Maintain schedules for post-closing obligations
Audit, Tax, and External Reporting
• Coordinate recurring requests from auditors, tax advisors, banks, lenders, and fund administrators
• Manage reporting calendars and resolve accounting or reporting questions with external stakeholders
Qualifications and Preferred Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
• Music royalty, music publishing, recorded music, entertainment accounting, and/or intellectual property
• 6-10 years of relevant accounting experience, including ownership of monthly and quarterly closes
• Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting, financial statements, reconciliations, and cash management
Reporting Relationship
The Senior Fund Accountant will report to the CEO and Fractional CFO and may oversee internal or outsourced accounting resources.
