Based in Nashville, MHA is the only healthcare-centered nonprofit organization serving the music industry nationwide. We’ve provided healthcare advocacy and support at no cost to more than 40,000 clients and have saved the music community more than $175M by providing advocacy and access to affordable health insurance options, medicine, mental health resources, end-of-life care, and many other necessary services.
Responsibilities
The Manager of Advocacy & Insurance is the heart of MHA’s care team, offering compassionate and competent support to our clients, and showing a dedication to helping protect and bolster the health and wellbeing of those in the music industry. The Manager of Advocacy & Insurance supports clients by providing empathetic, comprehensive, and knowledgeable guidance and hands-on assistance.
Responsibilities include:
• Serving as a caring and knowledgeable advocate, walking alongside clients so they don’t have to navigate complex health systems alone,
• Empowering clients to make informed decisions by explaining health insurance options with clarity and care,
• Protecting clients from the weight of medical debt by offering knowledge, guidance and direct advocacy to negotiate and reduce medical bills,
• Partnering with providers, facilities, and insurers to help remove barriers to lifesaving care, ensuring clients receive the care they need, and
• Helping clients find stability through financial relief programs and assisting with applications that provide critical support for medical and living expenses during challenging times.
• Designing and implementing forward-thinking solutions to navigate complexities in healthcare costs and client needs.
The Manager of Advocacy & Insurance facilitates MHA’s commitment by being present with clients in moments of vulnerability and helping them move toward hope and healing.
Requirements and Qualifications
Education and Experience
• ·Knowledge of health insurance, Medicaid, Medicare, mental health, and/or the music industry is preferred.
• Health insurance licensure exam required for employment (MHA will assist with training class & licensure upon hiring).
• A college degree is preferred.

Trust and confidentiality: Maintain the utmost trust and confidentiality in dealing with all matters related to the clients and organization. Manage a small budget for purchase of supplies and kitchen items.
Technology: Proficient in Microsoft Office and Adobe. A quick learner with new technology. Experience with Salesforce is also beneficial, though not required.
Benefits
• The salary range is $45K-$55K, commensurate with experience. 
• MHA operates on a hybrid schedule and is open from 9am-5pm. The Manager of Advocacy & Insurance works in the office Monday-Wednesday with an option to work remotely Thursday and Friday. While training, the Manager of Advocacy & Insurance will be in the office Monday-Thursday.
• This is a full-time position and includes health, dental, and vision benefits.
