We are Burwoodland, a nightlife and events company that produces nationally touring themed dance parties including Emo Night Brooklyn, Gimme Gimme Disco, and Broadway Rave. Our shows bring thousands of people together every weekend across the country. Marketing is at the core of how we connect with fans, build culture, and sell tickets.
About the Role
After 10 years of building communities around live experiences, we're launching a serious ecommerce and merchandise operation, starting with Emo Night Brooklyn.
We're hiring our first Director of Ecommerce on a 6-month full-time contract. This is a builder role for someone who wants to own a P&L from day one, work alongside founders who care about the work, and build something from scratch with a real audience already in place.
What You’ll Do

  • Store: Shopify rebuild, optimization, ongoing CRO, product page strategy
  • Product: Drop calendar, SKU planning, print-on-demand and inventory strategy
  • Analytics: GA4, Shopify reporting, attribution model, P&L tracking, weekly reporting
  • Email/SMS: Klaviyo flows, segmentation, campaign calendar, list growth strategy
  • Paid media strategy: Creative briefs, test matrix, channel strategy (executed by our existing paid team under your direction)
  • Vendor management: Print-on-demand partners, fulfillment, designers
  • P&L & Reporting: Contribution margin ownership, path to profitability
    Who You Are
  • 5 to 10+ years in DTC ecommerce, ideally as the #1 or #2 ecommerce hire at a small to mid apparel, accessories, or lifestyle brand
  • Deep Shopify fluency: backend, themes, apps, basic Liquid is a plus
  • Strong analytical chops: GA4, Shopify analytics, spreadsheet modeling for unit economics
  • Creative judgment. You don't need to design, but you need taste and the ability to direct creative work
  • Paid media strategic literacy: comfortable briefing creative, structuring tests, and reading results even though you're not the one in ad manager day-to-day
    -  Self-directed; comfortable building from a blank page with limited internal infrastructure
  • Bonus: experience with brands tied to music, subculture, nightlife, or community-driven audiences
    Compensation: 6-month full-time contract at ~$8K - $10K per month depending on experience, with a checkpoint at month 3
