The Cause is an award-winning, fully independent, multi-venue dance music institution. We are a vital part of London’s nightlife ecosystem and pride ourselves on supporting charitable causes while championing underground dance music. We are looking for Barbacks who want to start a career in club culture and play a hands-on role in the day-to-day running of a busy music venue. This is a practical, physical role that supports our bars, front-of-house teams, and wider venue operations.
THE ROLE
As a Barback, you will be a key part of our bar and front-of-house operation, ensuring the venue runs smoothly before, during, and after events. You will support bar staff by restocking, maintaining clean and organised workspaces, assisting with opening and closing procedures, and helping with venue setup and breakdown.
This role is ideal for someone who is proactive, reliable, and eager to learn how a high-volume club operates behind the scenes. There are opportunities to develop skills in operations, site management, production support, and other areas involved in running an influential nightlife venue.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist with the setup and packdown of bars, stock, and venue infrastructure
Restock bars with ice, glassware, spirits, beer, soft drinks, and other supplies
Support opening and closing procedures for bars and event spaces
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of bar back-of-house areas
Assist with general site maintenance during events
Identify and report low stock or maintenance issues to the Bar Supervisor
Support bar during busy service periods
Assist with weekly construction and deconstruction of event spaces when required
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Desired skills
Interest in club culture, live music, nightlife, or events
Experience in hospitality, events, or physical work (preferred but not essential)
Comfortable working in fast-paced, high-pressure environments
Reliable, hardworking, and proactive with a positive attitude
Willingness to work late nights, weekends, and public holidays
Able to carry out physical tasks such as lifting and moving stock
No bartending experience is required — full training will be provided.
SALARY
£12.75 per hour
Shift work
Part-time, with the potential to work 30–40+ hours per week during busy periods
