The Role
Leftbrain is seeking a Remote Tour Accountant to support our Business Management division with tour and concert accounting. This role is ideal for someone with an accounting and finance background in live music who enjoys working behind the scenes to keep budgets and reporting accurate.
You do not need extensive on-the-road touring experience for this role. Instead, we're looking for someone who understands the financial lifecycle of live events, from building a show budget to reconciling the final tour settlement, and who can handle the tracking and follow-up in between.
Working remotely, you'll report to the business managers on each client team and work alongside their support staff. You'll also work directly with booking agents, tour managers, and promoters across a diverse roster of artists. From club tours and one-off events to major touring campaigns and festivals, you'll play an important role in delivering accurate financial information and exceptional client service.
Key Responsibilities
• Tour Budgets: Build and maintain tour budgets, and track actual expenses and cash flow against them as the tour runs.
• Settlements: Review show settlements with tour managers and onsite tour accountants, confirming that show fees and merchandise revenue match the deal and are paid on time.
• Reporting: Send financial updates while tours are out, and prepare final tour reconciliations when they wrap.
• Payroll & Tax Support: Coordinate tour payroll and track withholding across jurisdictions, including international markets, working with our tax accountants on filings.
• Collaboration: Keep business managers informed and work with tour managers to get receipts and reports in on time.
What We're Looking For
• Experience: 3+ years of accounting or corporate finance experience, including at least 2 years in live music accounting. Experience in business management or on a promoter's accounting/finance team is a strong plus.
• Touring Knowledge: A working understanding of deal structures, including guarantees and versus deals.
• Software: Strong Excel skills. Experience with Excel macros or Airtable is a plus.
• Settlements: Show settlement experience is not required but is a big plus.
• Mindset: You keep careful records and can manage priorities across multiple clients and tours while keeping everyone informed.
Compensation & Benefits
• Salary: $90,000 to $110,000 base salary
• Bonus: 10% annual target bonus
• Health Coverage: Health insurance, including dental and vision, competitive with top-tier public accounting firms
• Retirement: 401(k) with employer match
• Time Off: Unlimited PTO, plus 10 sick days per year
• Remote Work: Fully remote, with an $80 monthly work-from-home stipend
