Job Description
The Production Manager oversees all technical and logistical aspects of production at the venue, from artist advancing through show settlement. This role serves as the primary liaison between artists, artist representatives, and the venue, coordinating tech rider needs, staging, and show requirements within contract and venue guidelines. The Production Manager staffs and supervises the full production crew, manages multi-show builds and load in/load out schedules, and can independently set up and mix audio. The role also owns the upkeep of all sound, lighting, video, and stage equipment, recommending repairs or upgrades as needed, and ensures compliance with safety, fire code, and emergency procedures across all events.
Responsibilities
o Advance sound, lighting, staging, and other performer needs for all shows with artist representatives, including agents, tour managers, band members, event planners and/or event coordinators.
o Staff and manage sound techs, light engineers, video directors, camera ops, stagehands, loaders, merch sellers, and all other production positions for live events as needed and as the contract terms and production advances dictate.
o Serve as a liaison between the artists and artist representatives and the Venue and advance all artist tech rider needs within the limitations of the contract and subject to Venue policy.
o Supervise stage crew assigned to Venue during events.
o Coordinate multi-show builds multiple times a week.
o Manage the setup of all audio equipment independently and mixing of concert/show when additional crew support is not required or available.
o Manage all aspects of the production department including staff scheduling, load-ins, loadouts, settlement and maintenance of production gear.
o Settlement of every performance with artists or tour managers.
o Maintain and ensure all sound, lighting, video and stage equipment are in good working order.
o Make recommendations for repairs, upgrades and improvements to all systems.
o Report equipment malfunctions or concerns to GM.
o Manage and supervise general repair and maintenance of all equipment.
o Review emergency procedures and enforce rules and regulations designed to prevent security problems or safety hazards.
o Enforce adherence to established house rules re: fire code and special effects.
o Other duties and obligations as reasonably directed by Company.
Qualifications
o 5+ years minimum experience in Production Management
o Experience with national touring acts or large market venues
o Excellent leadership and managerial skills
o Ability to work in fast paced, constantly changing show situations
o Computer and tech savvy, proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
o Strong working knowledge of professional audio equipment, including setup, troubleshooting, and live mixing
o Familiarity with lighting, video, and staging systems and equipment
o Experience staffing, scheduling, and supervising production crews
o Experience advancing shows and working directly with artists, tour managers, agents, and event coordinators
o Strong understanding of contract terms, tech riders, and settlement processes
o Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
o Strong communication and interpersonal skills
o Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays
o Physical ability to assist with load ins, load outs, and hands on production work
