ABOUT STARFISH
Starfish Marketing & Creative is a boutique Nashville-based artist marketing and development company. We work closely with a focused roster of artists, managers, labels and outside partners.
We're looking for someone who wants ownership, wants their ideas heard and is excited to help build smart, creative campaigns — while having the discipline and attention to detail to make sure they actually happen.Starfish Marketing & Creative is looking for a highly organized, curious and resourceful Marketing Project Manager with 4–7 years of music industry experience.
This role is for someone who knows how a music release actually comes together not just someone who has been exposed to release strategy or sat in the meetings.
We need someone who has personally executed releases from planning through launch, understands how all the pieces connect, and can take a release date and work backward to build and manage the plan.
Just as important: we need a problem solver. You won't always know the answer, but your instinct should be to figure it out — research, look at competitive campaigns, find examples, ask smart questions and come back with solutions.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Own Releases & Project Management
• Build and manage release timelines working backward from street date.
• Track deadlines, approvals, assets and deliverables across multiple artists and projects.
• Anticipate what's coming next and identify missing pieces before they become problems.
• Coordinate artwork, photography, video, social content, DSP assets and other campaign materials.
• Review materials closely for accuracy, consistency and quality.
• Keep internal teams, managers, labels and outside partners aligned and moving forward.
Understand the Entire Release Ecosystem
You don't need to be the specialist executing every piece, but you must understand how they fit together, including:
• DSP strategy and coordination
• Social strategy and content rollouts
• Digital advertising
• Creative, video and asset development
• PR and publicity
• Creator and influencer campaigns
• Fan engagement and partnerships
• Artist branding
• Post-release marketing and optimization
You should understand who owns each piece, what they need, when they need it and how one part of the campaign affects another.
Think Like a Marketer
This isn't simply an organizational role.
• Contribute ideas and recommendations to artist marketing strategies.
• Research comparable artist campaigns, releases, partnerships and emerging tactics.
• Stay curious about what other artists and companies are doing and bring new ideas to the team.
• Review streaming, social, advertising and campaign performance and help turn that information into actionable next steps.
• Ask questions and challenge assumptions when something doesn't make sense.
Understand the Digital Landscape
You should actively understand and use today's major platforms, including Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Spotify and Apple Music.
You don't need to be the specialist running every campaign or pitching every DSP, but you need to understand how each platform fits into an artist's overall strategy and stay current as the digital landscape changes.
Communicate & Own Your Lane
• Participate actively in artist, management, label and partner meetings.
• Speak confidently about the projects you manage.
• Clearly communicate status, challenges and recommendations.
• Bring potential solutions when raising problems.
• Know when to make a decision and when to bring something to leadership.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
• 4–7 years of relevant music industry experience.
• Hands-on experience executing music releases from planning through launch.
• Exceptional attention to detail and organization.
• Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
• Curiosity and resourcefulness — if you don't know something, you know how to find the answer.
• Confidence to speak up, contribute ideas and make recommendations.
• Ability to manage multiple artists, projects and deadlines at once.
• Understanding of today's music, social and digital landscape.
• Ability to see both the big picture and the details required to execute it.
• Strong follow-through and a proactive mindset.
There is a difference between being exposed to release strategy and actually executing it. We're looking for someone who has helped move releases from an idea and a street date to an actual campaign in the marketplace.
