**ABOUT DARKROOM **
Darkroom is a modern music company operating across artist development, recorded music, digital marketing, partnerships, and entrepreneurship. We work with some of the world's most influential artists while building innovative businesses around music and culture. 
We are seeking an analytical and entrepreneurial Head of Finance to lead financial planning, royalty accounting, reporting, operational finance, and strategic decision-making across the company. 
**RESPONSIBILITIES **
• Own company-wide budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, reporting, executive dashboards, and monthly, quarterly, and annual P&Ls. 
• Build financial models, forecasts, and projections to support artist projects, marketing investments, strategic initiatives, and overall company performance. 
• Evaluate artist deals, label partnerships, distribution agreements, joint ventures, catalog  investments, and other commercial opportunities through financial modeling, profitability analysis, valuation work, and scenario planning. 
• Support M&A opportunities, including diligence, acquisition analysis, valuation, and integration planning. 
• Oversee invoice management, payment workflows, vendor onboarding, financial administration, and month-end/year-end close processes alongside external accountants. 
• Own the company's semi-annual royalty accounting process, including distributor report ingestion, reconciliations, recoupment calculations, statement generation, artist reporting, and payment administration.
• Improve financial systems, reporting infrastructure, and operational efficiencies across the business while supporting key strategic initiatives. 
**QUALIFICATIONS **
• 7+ years of experience in finance, FP&A, strategic finance, corporate development, or business operations within the music industry. 
• Experience supporting record labels, distributors, publishers, management companies, or other  music businesses. 
• Strong understanding of royalties, recording agreements, distribution structures, artist deals, marketing investments, and catalog valuation. 
• Demonstrated proficiency in royalty accounting, recoupment tracking, royalty statement preparation, and artist payments. 
• Exceptional financial modeling, forecasting, analytical, and problem-solving skills. •  
• Advanced proficiency in Excel, financial modeling, and AI-powered analytical tools, including Claude. 
• Strong communication skills with the ability to translate financial data into business recommendations. 
• Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail. 
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Mathematics, Business, or a related field.
