Job Title: Assistant Director – Huntington Bank Center

Reports To: Executive Director
Salary: Depending on Experience + commission on sold building sponsorships
About the Position
The Huntington Bank Center seeks a strategic, dynamic Assistant Director to drive the success of our premier entertainment and events venue. This position reports to the Executive Director and collaborates with venue leadership and staff to achieve organizational goals, grow the Center’s profile, and ensure operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Staff Management
• Supervise, recruit, train, coach, and evaluate staff to achieve organizational objectives and maintain a culture of inclusion, innovation, teamwork, and accountability.
• Implement and enforce systems, policies, procedures, and safety standards to ensure a safe and compliant work environment.
• Provide day-to-day leadership support to the Executive Director and serve as backup, including filling in for the Executive Director in their absence to ensure continuity of operations.
Events, Programming & Coordination
• Oversee and grow a comprehensive booking and event programming strategy that ensures a balanced mix of concerts, family shows, equine, livestock events, conventions, trade shows, and community events.
• Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with promoters, agents, artists, event coordinators, and community partners to attract high-quality entertainment and events.
• Coordinate the planning and execution of events from concept through wrap-up, including scheduling, vendor coordination, timelines, budgets, staffing, volunteers, permitting, contracts, and on-site event management.
Financial Management & Revenue Growth
• Assist in the development and management of annual operating and capital budgets, ensuring fiscal responsibility and alignment with strategic goals.
• Control expenses by monitoring variances and implementing corrective actions as needed.
• Identify and develop creative sponsorships, partnerships, and other revenue-generating opportunities, and maximize the Center’s internal sponsorship program.
Marketing, Communications & Operations
• Oversee the development and maintenance of the venue’s website, marketing strategies, and communications materials to elevate our brand and expand audience engagement.
• Maintain high-quality and customer service standards, ensuring a positive experience for promoters, clients, guests, and the community.
Other Duties
• Contribute to team efforts by collaborating across departments and supporting special projects as needed.
• Perform other tasks as assigned.
• Central Texas State Fair and other in-house-promoted events
Qualifications
• A combination of relevant education and experience in venue management, event programming, live entertainment, or a closely related field, with a minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience preferred.
• Demonstrated success in booking, event promotion, event coordinating, and relationship development with industry professionals.
• Strong understanding of financial management, budgeting, and strategic planning.
• Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and facility management software.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Good understanding of public safety concerns for large gatherings.
• Proven leadership skills and demonstrated supervisor experience with the ability to motivate and develop diverse teams.
• Excellent negotiation and organizational skills.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and event days.
Work Conditions
• Performed primarily in an office environment in support of events.
• Work hours and schedule are irregular and may change based on the number and size of events.
• Requires occasional periods of working outside in extreme weather conditions.
Physical Requirements
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Frequent and prolonged periods of walking and standing.
• Occasional lifting, carrying, and driving, lift 50lbs.
