A&R Intern Fall 2026

Internship (Academic Credit)

Onsite • Los Angeles, CA, USA

Category: Publishing

Payday Publishing is looking for a music-obsessed, detail-oriented intern to join our A&R team. You'll get hands-on exposure to how a publishing company scouts talent, develops writers, and builds the creative relationships behind the songs you hear on the radio — while directly supporting our team's day-to-day work.
What you'll do
• Research emerging songwriters, artists, and producers across genres
• Track and organize A&R data (writer credits, session activity, market trends)
• Contribute to creative brainstorms on writer pairings, pitches, and roster strategy
• Provide administrative support to the A&R team (scheduling, session prep, notes)
What you'll gain
• A working understanding of music publishing and the A&R process
• Real exposure to how signings, sessions, and creative development happen inside an indie publisher
• Direct collaboration with A&R staff and Payday's roster of writers
• A foot in the door in the music industry
Who we're looking for
• A passionate music enthusiast with strong organizational instincts
• Someone comfortable with research and data, but equally excited by creative brainstorming
• Currently enrolled in school and eligible to receive internship credit
• Based in or able to commute to the LA area
