House of Yes is a creative collective with a theatrical nightclub venue in Bushwick, Brooklyn that has become a beacon of NYC nightlife. We are renowned for programming and producing outrageous dance parties, circus spectacles, immersive cinema, aerial & cabaret shows. In addition to our in-house programming, we offer our space for private events, fundraisers and community activities. Each night is specially curated to present a fusion of music, visual art, theatrics and interactive elements. We are a fast growing company being recognized on an international level for holding the culture of nightlife to a higher standard, through our inclusive programming and consent initiatives.


JOB DESCRIPTION

The General Manager is an integral part of House of Yes, collaborating between operations, booking, ticketing, marketing, and creative leads to create a harmonious, efficient, and successful venue. The General Manager touches all departments to supervise the overall health of the organization. This role leads the House of Yes team with a mature, discretionary, critical thinking demeanor. The General Manager should have a passion for nightlife, food & beverage, performance art, dance and consent culture, as well as deep connections to these communities. The role requires a high level of organization, attention to detail, and a commitment to hospitality - for ticket buyers and artists. We expect you to be a forward-thinking leader who takes initiative, is proactive about introducing fresh ideas and constructive criticism, thrives as a team leader, and believes that customer service is an art.


HOURS: Full time and salaried; night time, weekend, and holiday availability required

REPORTING MANAGER: House of Yes Partners

RESPONSIBILITIES (INCLUDES BUT NOT LIMITED TO)

Acts as the main authority, along with the House of Yes Partners, for the day-to-day operations of the organization while simultaneously forecasting future operational needs and requirements

Monitors and supervises Lead Managers and ensures that projects and protocols are followed through in the manner in which they are agreed upon, always remaining receptive to change and evolution

Acts a leading role in meeting the sales and profitability targets of House of Yes

Maintains operational budgets alongside the Accounting Dept and works collaboratively to identify cost saving opportunities while not sacrificing the quality of the guest experience

Acts as the MoD (Manager on Duty) for Friday and Saturday late night operations (approximately 9 PM - close)

Hospitality-driven: ensuring consistent, high quality beverage and guest services

Assists in the supervision and management of MoDs (Managers on Duty)

Acts as a direct liaison to the security company serving House of Yes

Manage Square (the POS system), ensuring it is configured efficiently and logistically, and perform updates

Supervisor and supporting the Bar Manager as they lead Front of House and Back of House staffing and scheduling, which includes recruiting, hiring, + corrective action and holding seasonal team meetings as needed

Spearheads (alongside the Bar Manager and HR) with the resolution of interpersonal or other similar issues amongst Front of House / Back of House staff

Supervises and supports as needed the Bar Manager’s execution of weekly payroll for Front of House and Back of House and weekly variance report requirements

Supervise and monitor the Bar Manager with beverage and dried goods ordering, ensuring there is always adequate inventory and correctly reporting inventory, while making changes and updates as needed

Supervises and supports Bar Manager with beverage sponsorships and partnerships in order to increase sales and profitability yet while also maintaining House of Yes’ level of customer service and creativity

Attend all required weekly department meetings, management team meetings, special event meetings, and meetings with the House of Yes partners

Ensures House of Yes remains compliant with Department of Health rules and regulations as well as all other government agencies

Actively spots issues or inefficiencies and works to quickly resolve them, never abandoning the issue until it is completely resolved

Works in tandem with House of Yes Department Leads to disseminate information and delegate responsibilities

Assists the House of Yes owners with expansion opportunities as they may arise

Creating a positive, rewarding work environment for all House of Yes staff while acting as an exemplary employee and leader

Other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the House of Yes Partners

REQUIRED SKILLS

Google Workspace

Square

Experience in Shotgun, DICE, Eventbrite, Resident Advisor, and / other other ticketing software platforms

Monday.com or similar platforms

Slack

Familiarity with Gemini, Claude, or other AI platforms

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Legally permitted to work in the USA

21+

5+ years in General Management of a Nightclub or club-like atmosphere

FDNY F03/04 and E06 (may have grace period of 1 month after hiring to obtain)

Food Handler’s Certificate

Must be comfortable lifting up to 50 pounds and standing for long periods of time

Excellent communication, leadership, and written skills

Receptive to change and pivoting to better serve the organization as a whole; solution-oriented mindset

Comfortable in nightlife, queer, and alternative spaces as well as large crowds
